I LOVE reading, and on this page I would love to share some of my favorite books. I recommend them for everyone! :)
If I Stay
Gayle Forman
Mia has everything; a great family, a wonderful boyfriend, and a bright, music-filled future ahead of her. A car accident changes everything and Mia is facing the biggest decision of her life.
I saw the trailer of the upcoming movie a while ago, and I simply cannot wait to see the movie! I was excited when I found the book on my trip to London, and even more excited to read it. My expectations may have been a bit too high. I think the idea is great, and has a lot of potential, but this book doesn't quite deliver. I liked it, but I didn't love it. I found it a little too simple, when it could have been more powerful. Such a topic is challenging, I understand that. The last few pages of the book were brilliant, though.
Panic
Lauren Oliver
Panic is a game that was born in a small town, where there's nothing much to do. High School seniors take part in Panic, that spreads through the entire summer, and forces them face their worst fears.
I love Lauren Oliver's books and this one wasn't a disappointment either! She has a unique way to depict the world through teenagers eyes. Panic is gripping, thrilling, and entertaining. Make sure to pick up your copy!
The Help
Kathryn Stockett
The Help is about African-American maids in white households in 1960's Jackson, Mississippi. Skeeter, a white young woman, is an aspiring writer who wants to write about something that disturbs her, but doesn't seem to disturb others, and so she decides to interview the maids despite it being illegal and dangerous.
If I had to describe this book with just one word, it would be amazing. I've read it two or three times and am ready to read it again anytime. The telling is so real and captures you in the way it's going to be impossible to put this book down until you've read it!
Also, the movie version of this book is awesome. It's a shame how rarely books are turned into great movies, don't you think?
The Fault In Our Stars
John Green
Hazel has been terminal for a long time, and a miracle drug has bought her some more time. Still, her life seems pretty pointless. That is, until she meets Augustus Waters in Cancer Kids Support Group.
I had heard good things about this book, so I bought it, but to be honest, I wasn't immediately impressed. But a few chapters in, I was hooked. Green has a great way to describe life from a teenager's point of view and this book is truly funny, real and tragic.
The movie will be released in summer 2014!
The Delirium -trilogy (Delirium, Pandemonium & Requiem)
Lauren Oliver
Lena lives in a world, where love has been declared a disease, and she can't wait for her 18th birthday, when she will finally be cured. But then she meets Alex, and suddenly she sees everything in a whole new perspective.
Love being a disease is such a fascinating idea, and that's what got me interested in the first book. After that I just had to read the entire series! These are royalty of YA books.
