May Favorites

TV & MOVIES

I have all ten seasons of Friends on DVD, and what can I tell ya.. probably one of the best sit coms of all time. My brother was borrowing the DVD box for a loooong time, and I finally got it back. And watched all of the seasons, back to back. I know, right? No life.

MUSIC

Lucy Hale - Road Between

Emeli Sandé - Read All About It

FOOD
We got to enjoy a pretty amazing weather here in Finland. For about a week, and now it's cold again. But anyways, during this weather wise weird week I had six days off (I know, right?!) and I got to enjoy the company of my friends and had a loooooooot of ice cream. Yummy!

MAKE-UP & BEAUTY

Primo Self Tanning face lotion by Dermosil. I've never used self tanning lotions before, and I don't intend to start, BUT, this one only gives your face a light, beautiful summery glow. We're not talking about a strong tan here, just some color ;) For us white people in the North, this lotion is perfect! The result is natural and the lotion doesn't leave any awkward lines on your skin.

BOOKS

I read Lauren Oliver's latest novel, Panic. The plot was absolutely thrilling; young people facing their worst fears in a game that came to be because there was nothing else to do in a small town.

I'm a fan of Oliver's other books, too, and this one wasn't a disappointment either! She has a unique way to depict young peoples' lives. Make sure to check this book out!

I usually prefer to read the book first before I go see the movie, but I admit I hadn't even heard about Divergent until they started promoting the movie. I'm so off the wagon when it comes to YA literature right now... My reading has taken a hit lately, but I'm working on fixing that. So yeah, I went to see the movie and loved it, and bought the book the same day. I'm now reading it and loving it so far. I think I might have to go out and buy the other two books as well :P

These were my monthly favorites from May! What do you guys think? I know there's not much to promote now, but it's been kinda slow. Again. I have received some VERY GOOD NEWS this month, but instead of sharing them in this post, I will be doing a whole separate post about them. Stay tuned ;)

Express Yourself April: Inspiration for Summer!

After drooling over countless pictures from Coachella, it's hard not to get inspired! I love the bohemian outfits and everything that's hippie and vintage. AH!

I have been making a list of things to acquire for this summer, and I'm constantly browsing through We Heart It, Instagram and other sites for ideas and inspiration. Here's what you will be seeing on me in the near future:

I'm the kinda person who plans outfits waaaayyy ahead of time. I'm already consuming myself with what I'll wear during my vacation. What shoes, what pieces of jewelry etc. How I'll wear my hair... I'm just weird that way. I can't wait to get to do some shopping!

This picture sucks, but it's the only one I have of the pants that I bought from Miami! I LOVE THEM! They're very light and you can either let them be how they are or pull them up and wear them as capri-pants. They're loose and super comfortable, and I can't wait to wear them once the weather warms up!

On another note, sorry I've been so irregular with my blogging this month. Even April's theme hasn't gotten that much attention. The reason for my absence is simply studying; I have two entrance exams coming up -one on Tuesday and other one on Wednesday. After that I'm all yours again! :)

And a special thanks to all my new followers on Glipho! Thank you for the follow and I hope you will stick around. Let's hope Blogger gets more active, too ;)

Love you guys<3

Express Yourself April: Messy. Cluttered.

I may have mentioned once or twice that I'm an extremely messy person. If you didn't know that before, now you do.
I don't know what it is, but I freaking hate cleaning more than anything in this world.

My parents had more than enough cleaning-related genes to pass on, but they were all given to my brother. Well, they paid for that.

I can't live in a perfectly organized, neat environment. I need the clutter around me. I'm not saying I want to live in the middle of garbage piles (don't forget there's a difference between messy and dirty), but I feel so much more inspired and alive when I see signs of life in my apartment. You know how they say that a clean house is a sign of a wasted life? I live by that. If you wanna keep everything clean and never wanna see dust on your furniture, be my guest, I'm not here to judge. I'm just trying to explain my own view, because a lot of people seem to think being messy is something that should be punished by law.

I know where my things are. When I was still living at home, my mom would clean up after me and move my things and then blame me for losing them due to being so messy. Sorry, mom, you totally did. I still love you. But I control my own chaos. I know which pile of stuff contains my bills that need to be paid. I know I can find that red shirt from under that pile of pillows, I know my comforter is put out of the way in a box labeled 'books'. That's just how I choose to live. I don't stress about cleaning up, I don't care if I have a ton of dishes to do; I'll do them when I do them.

I'm a creative person in every meaning of the word, and I love it. And I'd rather spend my time doing something else than worrying about my apartment being too messy. It'll always be messy, unless I get rid of everything I own.

A friend of mine once said it was sort of endearing, when she saw my room.
Yeah, I think so too ;)

Have a great weekend! <3

A Quick Spin To Helsinki

Hey you all on the other side of the screen :)

I am writing to you from my mom's comfy couch, after a very nice and happy day!
I headed out to Helsinki today with my friend. We didn't have much planned, just a few things. It was about lunch time when we arrived, which was perfect and we were both starving, so we had a great lunch at Vapiano.

I meant to take a camera with me and take real good photos to show you guys, but I forgot all about it when I left home, so now we have to settle with my iPhone pics, sorry :(

After our delicious lunch break, we headed to our main destination, the Louis Vuitton store.
And I left the store with something!

Oh my god, you guys, I can't even tell you how excited I am! I have wanted to own an LV bag for so many years I can't even count, and now I was finally able to get one. I will make a separate post about it probably tomorrow. Yay!

Before going back home we stopped to get Starbucks. Ah, my favorite place to get coffee<3
What's you guys' favorite Starbucks drink?

Hope you've had a nice start for the week! I'll get back to you soon :)

Today was my pay day

I've been complaining about my make-up for so long that I was beginning to annoy even myself, and was really due to buy some more. So today, I went shopping, and got what I needed + SOME MORE!

Sorry for the bad quality

Basically, all I really needed was the blush... But there was a sale! The eye shadow thingy only cost me 2 euros, and the two nail polishes together were 3 euros. Then again.. there's the liquid eyeliner, the brushes and the blush, that put the price up and I ended up spending a good 43 euros (including a bag of m&m's that I already murdered). I also bought a new eyelash curler, because my eyelashes are the stupidest eyelashes in the entire world; my right eye is fine, the lashes curl up nicely naturally, but my left eye is different, and the lashes are straight and DO NOT STAY CURLED. I wonder if I should get one of those curlers that heat up? If you have any experience with those, leave a comment below!

I've been so into YouTube lately, it's ridiculous. I'm frantically following all these cool channels and even though I said I would wait a little before starting my own channel, the temptation is huge. But, let's just get that first video out here until I make any rushed decisions. It'll probably be up in a couple of weeks..

I'm also tempted to go and have my hair lightened more... I've had waaaaayyyy too much time to myself. I'll return to work on Friday, maybe that'll bring me back to Earth.

See ya later ;)

Vlogging? Vlogging!

I'm the kinda person who comes up with a GREAT IDEA and simply cannot wait to put it in action -often without much thinking. I'm too impatient (I really have to work on that...). But when I got the idea of starting my own YouTube Channel I had the sense to slap myself across the face and I told myself to reconsider.

And I did.

I'm not abandoning the idea, I'm just postponing it. Kinda... I was thinking I could try and do some videos and post them here first. If I like making videos, if I can edit them and be presentable and not too phony and all, I may post them later on YouTube. Because it would be weird and embarrassing to make a starting video in which I tell you how excited I am about vlogging, and then end up posting two videos before quitting. That's what would have happened without the slap across the face. See? Impatient.

I just realized the center bottom photo is just so wrong right now.. :D #putyourtonguebackinyourmouthmileycyrus

But what the hell... I am excited about this!!! :) I will start working on my first video soon! Absolutely no idea when I will post it, but I promise you will see my crazy face live on this blog someday. Brace yourselves...

Anyhoo, enjoy your weekend, people :) I will get back to you!

Iira goes blonde, part 1.

So, remember that list of changes I wanted to make?

One down. I went to the hairdresser's on Tuesday. It's not really something worth mentioning, unless you're me. I can rarely afford to go have my hair done by a professional. My hair is long and thick, and it costs a whole lot to have it cut and colored. But every once in a while I go :) This time I wanted to try the oh-so-popular ombre-style. I've actually tried it before; a year ago I had my hair done in Portland. My hair was dyed very dark but the tips were blonde. It turned out really pretty, and it was done by a student, so it was cheaper. Now I wanted it a little different, so we started the process.

The colors in this picture aren't exactly right, but pretty close. This time around my hair didn't get as light as I would have preferred, but I'm not surprised. I've been coloring it dark for over a year now, so going back to blonde is going to be a long process, and I don't want to ruin my hair as I go. I'm still very happy with the result. I will be going to Florida in a few months and hope the sun will lighten my hair some more ;) might just save me another trip to the hairdressers.

What comes to the other parts of that list, I'm hoping to get some shopping done next week. I'd love to get a new scarf and maybe a cute fall knit. Although I did get one recently; I will have to do a post about my fall clothes! It's still too warm to be wearing knits and scarfs (the weather's drunk and should go home) and I can't wait to wear in my new clothes! <3

Have a great weekend, y'all!

What now

The fall is my favorite time of the year. It's when the weather cools down; it's not too hot and not too cold. It's perfect. Trees turn yellow, orange and red. It's a time for change, for new and exciting things. Or at least it used to be.

This fall I have nothing to look forward to, except for my pay day so that I can go and have my hair done. Last fall I traveled to Portland for three months. Two years ago I quit school and faced the exciting reality of a working girl. This fall I'm staying put. Same job, same everything. I think the fact that there's really nothing going on has killed my creativity.

I feel powerless. What used to be my passion isn't natural to me now. Writing. Creating. Art. My life is too boring now. Some say it's a good thing, but I really do wish there was more action in my life. I would have more to tell you. But I guess writing about not being able to write like I used to is better than nothing? At least I'm writing.

I wish it was December already. In December I get to step on a plane and visit my other home.

Until then... I think I'll book that hair appointment first thing on Monday.

Later, lovelies :)
